Headbands- one hand marbled and the other hand carved. Both slowly stitched by hand for longevity and a traditionally hand crafted look!
The Japanese Suminagshi marbling technique was used on the leather for the black headband, and teal suede lines the inside to prevent slippage against your head.
I was inspired by Batik clouds for the hand tooled headband, and this piece will age beautifully with use, developing it's own patina!
Vegetable tanned leather: Leather in it's most malleable and simplistic form. Vegetable tanned leather is the more time consuming and eco friendly techniques to tan leather. Rather than taking just a few days to tan with chemicals like the Chrome tanning technique would require, Veg Tanning uses natural tannins like tree bark and tea to make the by-product leather in to a useable and long lasting material. As a result, Veg tan leather can be embossed and nourished continuously over it's lifetime to make a product that will likely outlive it's owner!
